Sometimes a good dessert doesn’t require an oven or complicated techniques. All you need is a quiet kitchen, a skillet over low heat, and a handful of ripe berries. This simple pie is made the calm and classic way — the way things are done in a gentleman’s kitchen. Soft buttery batter and sweet blueberries come together into a dessert that pairs perfectly with a cup of tea and a few peaceful moments.

Total time: 30-40 minutes | Cooking time: 20-30 minutes | Yield: 3 servings

INGREDIENTS

1. Butter - 60 g

2. Flour - 100 g

3. Eggs - 2

4. Milk - 50 ml

5. Sugar - 3 tbsp

6. Blueberries - 100 g

7. Baking powder - 1/3 tsp

Step By Step Cooking Process

STEP 1

Rinse the blueberries gently under cold water. Sort through them, remove the stems, and discard any damaged berries. Only the freshest fruit should make it into the pie.

STEP 2

In a small saucepan combine butter and sugar. Place it over low heat and stir until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves completely.

Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature. Add the eggs and whisk until smooth. Pour in the milk, then add flour and baking powder. Mix carefully until the batter becomes smooth and lump-free.

STEP 3

Lightly grease a non-stick skillet with butter. Pour in the batter and spread the blueberries evenly on top.

Cover the skillet with a lid and place it over very low heat. Let the pie cook slowly for about 20-30 minutes, allowing the batter to set and the berries to release their aroma.

STEP 4

Carefully transfer the finished pie onto a serving plate and let it cool slightly. Slice into portions and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or simply with a good cup of tea.

The best recipes are often the simplest ones.
